The Itinerary

The West Coast Hwy (14) from Victoria to Port Renfrew hugs southern Vancouver Island's wild coast: deserted beaches, rainforest and millennium-old trees.

At Sooke, swim at Sooke Potholes (natural pools in the Sooke River). China Beach and Mystic Beach offer forest descents to wild beaches. At Port Renfrew, the Pacific Marine Circle Tour leads to "Avatar Grove" — twisted millennium-old Douglas firs, including "Canada's Gnarliest Tree." Botanical Beach at low tide reveals tide pools teeming with life.
