The Itinerary

EC Manning Park, on Hwy 3 (Crowsnest), is one of the largest wilderness areas reachable from Vancouver. 3h drive, 70,600 hectares of Cascade Mountains.

Cascade Lookout offers a 360° view of the range. Lightning Lakes for canoeing and fishing. The Pacific Crest Trail starts here (legendary trail to Mexico, 4,270 km). In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. In summer (July), subalpine meadows explode with wildflowers — a short but dazzling show.
