The Itinerary

Rogers Pass (1,327 m), crossed by the Trans-Canada Highway, is an engineering masterpiece built in 1885. It splits the Selkirk and Purcell ranges — some of Canada's most spectacular alpine scenery.

Glacier National Park contains 130 glaciers, including the Illecillewaet — visible from the Hermit lookout. The Discovery Centre tells the dramatic railway history of the pass (1910 deadly avalanches). Mt. Revelstoke National Park, to the west, offers the Meadows in the Sky Parkway in summer. Golden is the gateway to Yoho National Park.
