The Itinerary
An epic road trip for adventurers: 410 km between the Pacific coast (Prince Rupert) and the Alaska border (Stewart-Hyder). The Cassiar Hwy (37) crosses one of North America's wildest regions.
Prince Rupert, the north-coast port, is also the Inside Passage ferry terminus. Hwy 37A to Stewart is among the most spectacular: Bear Glacier hugs the road, Bear River crosses canyons. At Hyder (Alaska, no northbound border control), watch grizzlies fishing salmon at Fish Creek (Jul–Sep). Salmon Glacier (37 km northeast) is one of the world's largest road-accessible glaciers.
