The Kootenay Rockies region encompasses the Columbia River valley, the Selkirk and Purcell ranges, and the Rocky Mountains on the Alberta border. Crown land here is prime mountain goat, bighorn sheep and mule deer country, with exceptional fly-fishing rivers and a network of forest service roads providing backcountry camping access.
